Gardai have launched an investigation into potential breaches of Covid-19 restrictions at Darina Allen’s cookery school in Cork.
In a statement to The Star, gardai confirmed they attended a premises in the Shanagarry area of Cork, and that the owners had agreed “to cease any operations” while they carry out their enquiries. It is understood that gardai have not yet implemented the enforcement stage - as they were yesterday enquiring with officials at the Department of Health in relation to the suspected breaches of the restrictions.
The government website further states that organised indoor events are “controlled environments with a named event organiser, owner or manager,” and cites examples such as business, training events, conferences, and other arts events. “Our overseas students had already arrived before the 31st December 2021 and were already in quarantine,” she insisted.But said despite a decision by the school to cancel the originally planned 12 week course - they then decided to go ahead with a “modified” - still in-person - course for the international students that were there.
