Ruth Langsford has broken her silence for the first time since announcing his shock split from Eamonn Holmes after 14 years of marriage.

A source close to the couple put the break-up down to 'work commitments which took them in different directions'. "They are determined to stay friends and keep things amicable," they told The Sun.
In recent years, the 64-year-old has juggled his TV work alongside his battle with chronic pain and has been pictured in a wheelchair and on crutches as his health has deteriorated. This week Ruth spoke about the impact of Eamonn's health crisis on their marriage for the first time. Ruth and Eamonn first met in 1997 when they were introduced by mutual friends and they then dated for over a decade before Eamonn popped the question and they married in 2010.
