The Taoiseach has said that the only way to resolve the issues over the Northern Ireland Protocol is through 'substantive talks' between the EU and the British government |

Fine Gael TD Charlie Flanagan, Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee, tells the Your Politics team that he does not support a European Army, but believes that 'we can

do more'. Pointing to Ireland's many friends in Washington, he tackles the Taoiseach's 'Jesuitical distinction' on fuel aid, and explains why the Left gets neutrality wrong.

Talking with the British government? When has that ever worked in favour of anyone but the British government? Back to balaclavas!

look the british government do not want to keep their word, johnson is in deep trouble at home.the longer he can spin this out for, the longer the other bad news stays off the front pages of an already highly compliant press

Eire353 I'd have thought one way to solve the problem would be for the English government to do what it signed up to!

tconnellyRTE Yes.

tconnellyRTE I dunno, Taoiseach. Have you considered the threat of a nuclear strike as means to an end?

They have already been talking for 3 years, how long do you want them to talk for mehole. Put the border where it belongs if you want checks done.

We all know what the Tom Cat Boris thinks of the rules and the Law....

Might help if you would accept Sinn Féin are a political party

tconnellyRTE For god sake, how much substantive/intensified talks are needed? that is all they have been doing talk, talk, talk but no result

The UK will act unilaterally, and force the issue into the courts. Legality of this per the NIP will take time to test. Any TCA retaliation by the EU will be constrained to 2 options - proportionate retaliatory measures or total withdrawal.

tconnellyRTE Medicines because causing death isn’t a good look! They’ve done nothing can breach arms embargoes to Russia and fund the Russian slaughter of Ukrainians but the protocol, nothing! Disgusting EU 🤮

tconnellyRTE Bit of a Freudian Penis there from Martin looking to 'Flush it out' regarding the UK's landing zone!

tconnellyRTE Michelle O Neill and other NI representatives should also be there too. Time to hear a different perspective than the DUP.

tconnellyRTE Why can’t Michelle O’Neill speak- it is her jurisdiction

The reason why the DUP and Boris keep playing games in negotiations is because FF & FG roll over like a basket of puppies.

Clearly Boris intends to go unilateral after his meetings today. Even if it's to remove the ECJ - he knows it's unacceptable and will provoke a reaction which is what he wants. We've been far too passive in this. Democracy is democracy, the majority want the protocol - it WORKS.

it’s the only show in town. Let them get in with you. Shame you wouldn’t get on with helping your own people in these very difficult times due this cost of living crisis. Do something to help for a change instead of continuing to say you can’t do anything.
