Podcaster and dancer PJ Kirby has opened up about his passion for Irish culture and the importance of creating LGBTQ+ friendly spaces to encourage the queer community to embrace their identity

Podcast presenter and dancer PJ Kirby has opened up about his love of all things Irish culture, and speaks out about the importance of inclusive spaces for the LGBTQ+ community in Ireland.

Speaking to RSVP Live, he recounted how growing up he felt like the Catholic church influenced a lot of the cultural events that were going on: " heavy influence of the Catholic Church, and it was always boys had to dance with girls, and because of the person who I am, which is a gay man - I wasn't going to do that."

" always connected to , but the big connection for me growing up was that I love everything about being Irish. PJ said: “I just think in a modern Ireland, it's nice that we can hang on to that beautiful culture that we have, like the trad dancers and like the ceili bands, but then just take out all the bits that doesn't need to be there.”
