Have you been pronouncing it wrong all your life?

Developed in 1931 to treat nappy rash by Dublin pharmacist Thomas Smith, the formula for Sudocrem has not changed in the 90 years since then. But that was soon changed to 'Soothing Cream' - because that's what it did, it soothed people. The thickness of some Dublin accents meant that 'soothing cream' was known as 'sood-ing crem' - and the company decided to reflect that.

But this fact was not well known - leaving hundreds of people in awe after one Twitter user found out about it."I'm screaming ‘Suda cree am’ in my head the last 20 minutes" replied one person.

“We know that this news is disappointing for many, but we’ll do everything we can to support all our affected employees throughout this process. “We’ll continue to have a strong presence in Ireland through our respiratory manufacturing plant in Waterford in addition to our commercial activities, and we remain fully committed to the Irish market.”
