This afternoon verdicts of unlawful killing were returned at the inquests into the deaths of the 48 people who died in the blaze.
The majority of those who were killed and injured lived in Artane and surrounding areas of Coolock and other nearby suburbs. The community, where many of the victims' families still live, has welcomed the verdicts of the inquests and described the significance of it.A number of people travelled to the Stardust Memorial at the site of the fire to leave flowers since the news emerged this afternoon.Local resident Deanna Gavin described growing up alongside neighbours who lost their children in the blaze and was upset recalling the events of that night 43 years ago.
She said former RTÉ journalist Charlie Bird had been wonderful in supporting the families of the Stardust victims up until his death earlier this year. Keith Gallagher said he believes Stardust is an ingrained part of the local history that children will always learn about.

Two People Hospitalized After Fire Tears Through Dublin HomeTwo people were rushed to hospital after a fire tore through a home in Dublin over the Easter weekend. Dublin Fire Brigade firefighters attached Dolphins Barn fire station were alerted to the blaze at a property on Sunday night. Two people who were in the house before firefighters arrived at the fire managed to escape the inferno and were subsequently taken to hospital where they recived treatment. Breathing apparatus teams from Dublin Fire Brigade then entered the house where they located and extinguished the fire. Imagea shared by Dublin Fire Brigade shows two members of the station outside the house with the bottom window completely destroyed and the inside of the home black from the fire. Another photo showing a wider view of the house showed debris outside with the outer walls of the home burnt and charred from the blaze that had taken over the home.
