Ambulance representatives have warned that overcrowding has severely impacted turn-around times, with crews having to 'wait hours on end to hand over' their patients

SIPTU HAS SAID that the National Ambulance Service is at “breaking point”, due to increased demand for its services amid the winter surge.

Representatives have raised concerns about the challenges facing its members employed in the NAS, warning that paramedics are under enormous pressure. “Some paramedics have reported working several hours beyond the end of their 12-hour shifts which is leading to burnout. Kenny added that the NAS has been “under funded for years” and needs at least an extra 2000 staff along with 120 new ambulances to provide the level of service that is now needed.

Overcrowding could get worse before it gets better: HSEThe interim CEO of the Health Service Executive has said that while this week has been the worst on record, he cannot say for certain that 'it won't get worse before it gets better'. Why weren’t they trying all along ? The low paid/Unpaid nurses he means. 🤡 As long as the uselsss HSE management are still in a job with no accountability, it’ll never change. If we spent every cent we had on the HSE they’d still find ways to spend it and not increase capacity.
