Organisers Failte and Dublin City Council have taken the difficult decision to cancel this year's celebration

Tens of thousands usually flock to the event each year, but unsurprisingly, it cannot go ahead in line with public health guidelines.

Cases of the killer bug continue to rise in Dublin with 2,004 of the 3,845 cases reported in Ireland in the last two weeks recorded in the capital. "Failte Ireland’s focus is now on working with Government, industry bodies and tourism businesses on the ground to support them to survive and recover in the months ahead.
