A nationwide snow alert is in place until 9am on Wednesday, with "increasingly wintry" showers expected in some parts of Ireland.A spokesman said: "Showers of hail, sleet and snow continuing throughout Wednesday and early Thursday, leading to icy patches.Meanwhile, a yellow wind alert for Clare, Cork and Kerry will be in place until 11pm on Tuesday, with gusts as strong as 100km/h expected.
A forecaster said: "Very cold tonight with clear spells and further showers of rain, hail, sleet and snow.
