Antrim ace is hoping his new physique can help him to a first World Snooker Championship title at the Crucible

Mark Allen sets his sights on Sheffield glory after a remarkable weight loss transformation. The world No. 3 snooker player has shed an impressive six-and-a-half stone in recent years, coinciding with a surge in his form.

"I should be going into Sheffield a bit more refreshed than I was last year. I have unfinished business at Sheffield." "I just feel healthier and more positive in the way I look," Allen revealed. "I'm not there worrying 'is my shirt coming out, can people see things they shouldn't be seeing? '. I just try to concentrate on playing snooker."

Allen isn't alone in experiencing the advantages of weight loss in the world of sports. Darts player Luke Humphries also saw success at this year's PDC World Darts Championship after losing four stone, suggesting his lighter build helped him secure the title at Ally Pally.
