The incident, involving three cars, occurred on the N20 in Ballybeg, near Buttevant, at around 10.50pm last night.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was removed to Cork University Hospital where a post-mortem examination will be carried out. The driver and two passengers in one of the other cars involved were taken to hospital with minor injuries.Gardaí are appealing to any witnesses, particularly motorists who may have dash cam footage and who were on the Buttevant to Mallow road between 10pm and 11.30pm to contact Mallow Garda Station on 022 31450, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
