There are 885 people with Covid-19 in hospital, up 40 on yesterday, of whom 76 are in ICU, down three. It comes as the Health Service Executive's Chief Operations Officer Anne O'Connor said high numbers of people are presenting at emergency departments with Covid-19.
She added that over 8,000 health service staff remain out of work due to Covid and said virus has also had a "significant impact" on waiting lists. "We're looking to see how we could use the staff, so for example, last autumn when we kind of had a bit of a lull in vaccination. We used a lot of those staff to work with us actually in relation to hospital waiting lists, being able to inform people and make appointments and we will continue to do that now as we start to scale back the [PCR testing] infrastructure."
Enough!.... it's over
I'm more annoyed that teachers were cucking sock in coppers over the weekend while my youngster sits with a rag on their mouth all day, 5 days a week
How many are in hospital *because of* Covid?
…why is the headline not the +40 in hospital?
Ah FFS.. have you not learned? Discharges happen Tuesday/Wednesday. And why are you still reporting all this? Do you have a covid budget to use up?
Good weed out the weak and let the rest of us move on with our lives.

Australia Covid-19 deaths rise as Omicron peaksAustralia has recorded another surge of deaths due to Covid-19 as an outbreak of the highly contagious Omicron variant peaked, and authorities warned numbers could rise further when schools return from end-of-year holidays next week. It's hard to look at the Covid policies of Australia and New Zealand as anything other than catastrophic strategic failures. No natural immunity and using obsolete social restrictions to attempt to eradicate Omicron. Bleak outlook for them. 58 deaths in a country of over 20m is not a surge. Stop fear mongering and using these poor people as overblown and poor presented statistics for it May they rest in peace Over 50s passed away unfortunately.
