Louth boss Ger Brennan said that he has Division One quality at his disposal following their Leinster final display.
Brennan, who is in his first year at the helm after succeeding Mickey Harte, said: “It’s a healthy respect in terms of what’s in front of you. Dublin have 15 players, two arms, two legs, as Mickey Whelan from St Vincent’s used to always tell us.“The Louth fellas are in great shape but it’s about being respectful of what they have and what they’re good at.
“The other thing is, the skill set of our players on the ball – we had to back our players and they are good enough. There’s Division One quality in the Louth players. They just have to believe in themselves.Brennan, a two-time All-Ireland winner with Dublin, admitted that going up against his native county was “a bit weird”, with seven former teammates part of the matchday panel.“Obviously the likes of James, Clucko, Mick Fitz, Jack, still a few of the boys, Ciaran, that I played with.
“Now, it was strange dressing the kids this morning, they were fighting again over what they were wearing. That’s the truth. I left the house early and left that to the wife.”
