Irish tourists travelling to Spain have been warned about an ongoing heatwave this week as the temperatures are expected to rise to highs of 40C in some parts of the country today.
Temperatures are set to peak on Friday, according to Spanish meteorological agency AEMET, who have issued a number of ‘maximum temperatures’ weather warnings between 36C and 40C. The typical high for Spain at this time of year is around 28C making this 10C to 15C hotter than normal and the earliest heatwave in Spanish history.
