A five-year-old girl allegedly murdered by her parents had been referred for treatment to black and decaying teeth, the High Court heard on Wednesday.
Mrs Wahab and her 32-year-old husband Abdul Wahab - Nadia's stepfather - are jointly charged with her murder, causing or allowing the death of a child, and grievous bodily harm with intent to her over a year-long period, Belfast Live reports. In June 2018 a health visitor referred Nadia to a community dentist in unusual circumstances due to the condition of her teeth, according to the barrister.
"There were no dolls, no dress-ups, not even a teddy bear or soft toy," he contended. A pink bicycle was located at the property, although investigations allegedly revealed it was a present from a family member in Poland rather than Nadia's parents."Even when she did attend any injuries would have been more difficult to detect on her she wore a head scarf to school, having converted to Islam, her father's religion," the prosecutor added.
