The service will be available from 8am to 9.30pm at the Glenamaddy Church in Glenamaddy in Co Galway today.
The church made the announcement on social media: “ASH WEDNESDAY DRIVE THRU will take place again this year on Wednesday next outside of Glenamaddy Church from 8am-9.30pm.Ash Wednesday is the first day of Lent- a period of abstinence and self-restraint as we head towards Easter.Palm crosses from the last Palm Sunday are burned and the ash is used to mark parishioners.Our Irish Mirror Sports Page - which brings you all your Irish and UK sports news - can be found here.
