Get your ashes on the go

Today is Ash Wednesday, which marks the beginning of the Lenten period, leading up to Easter week.

The day derives its name from the placing of repentance ashes on the foreheads of participants to either the words"Repent, and believe in the Gospel" or the dictum"Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return".Of course, while many are eager to profess their repentance, or just not feel left out, hectic work schedules and responsibilities can get in the way. Fortunately, a Galway church is providing a drive-thru ashes service so people can get their ashes to go.

The service takes place outside St. Patrick's Church in Glenamaddy, Co. Galway, today between 8.30am and 9.30pm. More details can be found at the church's official

Galway man missing for two months in Malaysia has been found safe and well | JOE.ieGreat news as Stephen Warde, a Galway man who had been missing for two months in Malaysia, has been found safe and well Some sesh... It’s good news that he’s been found. I’d be interested to hear what happened and why he needed to be found. Memory loss, held against his will? Because if he just didn’t contact any of his family for 8 weeks then that would put a different slant on things.
