Gardaí are treating the deaths as unexplained and the house which is located between Rathfarnham and Ballinteer has been declared a crime scene.
A candlelit vigil was held in the Llewellyn estate last night as residents expressed their shock and grief at the tragedy that unfolded on their doorstep. The bodies of three members of one family – a 37-year-old woman, an 11-year-old girl and a boy aged six were found in the house in Llewellyn Court after neighbours said they had not seen the family in some time.But it is understood they are pursuing a number of lines of inquiry.
They are carrying out house-to-house interviews to try and establish the movements of the family in recent days and they are talking to friends and family of deceased.Detectives have spoken to the man who is distressed and has been given access to medical treatment.The results of the post-mortem examinations will determine the outcome of this investigation but the case has been allocated the resources of a murder investigation.
