After a cold but pleasantly dry weekend the country is facing a horrid week of rain, hail and the possibility of some thunder storms.
And the only good news is that things won't take a turn for the worst until tomorrow with Met Eireann forecasting heavy showers of rain arriving tonight. However with weather boffins predicting that there will be heavy prolonged showers with hail and isolated thunderstorms mainly set to affect the west and coastal southern counties.Wednesday: Cool and blustery day with sunny spells and showers. The showers, some of them heavy and prolonged, with hail and isolated thunderstorms, will affect mainly western parts of the country at first, but they will spread elsewhere during the afternoon.
Cloud will soon increase, however, and heavy rain will extend from the Atlantic to affect most parts by morning. Moderate southerly winds, increasing fresh to strong and gusty near western and southern coasts overnight. Minimum temperatures of 5 to 8 degrees
