Sean Boyd returns to face his old club on Friday night when leaders Shelbourne visit champions Shamrock Rovers (8.00pm)

Stephen Bradley knows Sean Boyd is capable of taking a wrecking ball to any team’s title hopes as he prepares to face the in-form striker tonight.

And he followed up with goals against Drogheda United, the winner against Waterford and the opener in Monday’s thrilling 2-1 win away to St Pat’s. Boyd made another 26 league appearances for Bradley across the next two seasons, before he was derailed by bad injuries, and switched to Finn Harps and Longford.

“He had a bit of everything but most importantly, Sean is a good fella, good family, I know them really well, good people.” “It all comes down to that bit of luck in terms of injuries and hopefully for him, with his new baby and family, he stays away from those injuries.”Rovers’ win over Derry City on Monday was their first in five games but Bradley maintains there was no sense of panic within the Hoops dressing room.

Bradley won his first trophy - the FAI Cup - in his third full season as manager and that’s exactly where Duff is right now at Shels.“Like most good managers do, you learn as you go. That’s the sign of a good manager.
