Greg O’Shea turned down six figure contracts after winning Love Island, saying he chose happiness over money.Greg decided to shun the influencer lifestyle many Love Island contestants opt for after leaving the villa because he wanted to resume his Rugby 7’s career and represent Ireland at the Olympics. He now hosts The Six O’Clock Show on Virgin Media One with Karen Koster.
“I remember a contract came to me the week that I won. I was in London meeting all the agencies and they were offering these contracts, but it wasn’t a brand that aligned with me, it would have been so fake of me to sign with it. “The Olympics is an amateur sport, Rugby 7s doesn’t pay well, plus I turned down those contracts. I chose happiness over money.”
“I’m hoping there will be some Irish people in it this season. Also it keeps us interested, if the show wants to be friendly with us over here they need to put some Irish people in there.” “In the past, there have been Islanders who have seen the show as a business opportunity and have prepped their social media beforehand and it has slingshotted them to stardom.
He was no stranger to the show having guest presented before, and has worked with some big names in Irish TV such as Karen Koster, Una Healy, Grainne Seoige and Muireann O’Connell. He said: “I feel like such a baby, like I'm going into first year with my big schoolbag trying to figure it all out.
