are investigating all of the circumstances surrounding the death of two people after a house fire in Cork last night .
At around 11.15pm, Gardaí and fire services were alerted to the house fire on Lower Glanmire Road in Mayfield. The blaze was brought under control by fire services and the bodies of a man in his 80s and a woman in her 70s were recovered from inside the home.We currently have units dealing with a fire on Lower Glanmire Road.The Cork City Coroner has been informed and the results of the post-mortems, along with a technical examination of the scene, will guide the ongoing Garda investigation.

Two people die in house fire in CorkAn investigation is under way after a man in his 80s and a woman in her 70s died in a fire at a house in Cork. Emergency services were called to the scene on the Lower Glanmire Road. The fire broke out at a four-storey terraced house close to Kent Railway Station. Post-mortem examinations will be carried out at Cork University Hospital.
