The Court of Appeal has dismissed an application by one of two boys convicted of the murder of schoolgirl Ana Kriégel to introduce fresh evidence at his appeal against his conviction

Lawyers for the boy, known as 'Boy B', claimed garda interviews were inadequate and inappropriate and should not have been admitted at his trial in 2019.But the court refused the application saying it came nowhere near the threshold required.

Giving the court's judgment, the Appeal Court President Mr Justice George Birmingham said no issues about the voluntariness of the interviews of the boy by gardaí had been raised at his trial and still had not been raised by him. The boy's position was that he had told lies at the beginning, but that in his last interview, he told the true picture and that he was an observer and an eye witness but not a participant in the murder. He said the boy's new lawyers were seeking to"set at naught" the way the original trial had been run on his behalf and run an entirely different case.

Boy B was 13 when he lured 14-year-old Ana Kriégel to a derelict house in St Catherine’s Park in Lucan, where he watched as his friend beat her to death and sexually assaulted her. He was interviewed by gardaí eight times in total, during which he lied and changed his story repeatedly.

One bit of good news in a day of many scumbags stories.

Keep him locked up.

Great news

His parents should be in jail as well. Their repeated monstrous misogyny hate based teachings produced this. He was taught “how to” sexually assault.

Women & Men wud have him prosecuted for a Hate Crime had he sexually assaulted & murdered a Black, a Muslim or a Ukrainian. Women & Men teach their own Misogyny Hate to children & they then protect boys & men in their Misogyny Hate Crimes of raping/murdering on grounds ofGender.

Absolutely delighted for the little bastard 👏👏👏

Little sh1t shows no remorse and daddy is trying his best to get his little angel out

A bit of good news from the courts for a change

Should be named and shamed. Disgrace that animals like this are protected and appeals should not be allowed.

Life should mean life. Not 13 years or 8 year reviews and definitely not new identities when released.

Nice try! Not! Poor Anna.

Why would new evidence not be allowed ? Seems odd
