Manchester United held secret talks with Marco Silva before deciding that Erik ten Hag would remain in his post, it has been claimed.
As first revealed by The Mail, Silva was secretly spoken to by Ineos during the review into Ten Hag's future as they vetted potential managers. The Fulham head coach, 46, has earned plenty of plaudits for his work over the past three years at Craven Cottage but had not previously been linked to the United job, unlike other coaches.
Victory at Wembley last month means Ten Hag has won two trophies in as many years at Manchester United after landing the Carabao Cup in his maiden campaign at the helm.And with speculation over his future rife, he took the opportunity after the FA Cup final to stress that he would continue to win trophies - whether that was at Manchester United or elsewhere.
