Responding to a question from Labour Leader Alan Kelly, Micheál Martin said the priority is to first inform students who may have grades changed as a result of the error.
Mr Kelly said the Department has "gone to ground" in relation to those students who are appealing their calculated grades and asked is there a reason for that.
The Minister and the Department were aware of this issue a week before it was announced and sat on the information while students were left in the dark when making serious college/career decisions. This is entirely unacceptable, the Minister must go!

1. If CSPE should not have been in the table of benchmark JC subjects, and 2. If basic formula in use was wrong, -These would have been spotted within minutes by testing a couple of students! -Did Dept of Edu know testing was still happening? - they used an UNVALIDATED MODEL!

Does the issue relate only to downgrades or is it also to do with a lack of upgrades when results were below what the class was projected based on JC results?

Not surprised. Are there likely to be downgraded results too? Where do all these deferred college places leave 2021 leaving cert students? Between points soaring and places being deferred there’ll be nothing left for them. A total shambles from Day 1.
This is very very concerning. Students have already started their 3rd level courses based on these grades this week. If there are errors in the calculation that had not been identified before, students are not in the correct courses. Oh my goodness! Those POOR STUDENTS! 😭
