This news comes after it was confirmed that his character, which was a fan favourite, won't returning to the show anytime soon. David last made an appearance in the Yorkshire dales back in November but an update on him with given recently when the other residents of the village, namely Eric, Jacob and Leyla, mentioned him.
Matthew's departure from Emmerdale was confirmed last September after more than two decades working on the long-running soap opera.
