The shocking incident took place at around 8pm at a premises on St Peter's Road

A suspected makeshift petrol bomb attack on a Dublin chipper on Wednesday night left staff and customers terrified.

In footage seen by Dublin Live, the alleged attacker is shown to be holding what appears to be a type of makeshift petrol bomb as he enters the building, he then throws the bottle-shaped device at staff behind the counter. With shocked customers running away, a quick-thinking staff jumped to extinguish the flames as the shop filled with smoke as a member of the staff sprayed the blaze with an extinguisher.A garda spokeswoman said: "Gardaí are investigating an incident of criminal damage by fire that occurred at a shop in Walkinstown, Co. Dublin yesterday, 19 March at approximately 8pm.
