Charities call for people in HSE risk categories to be moved from ‘overcrowded’ centres

An “off-site self-isolation facility” for asylum seekers suspected of contracting coronavirus is to be piloted as part of a range of measures to try and curb the spread in direct-provision centres.

No visitors will be allowed enter centres to support social distancing and reduce contact. Centres without independent living arrangements have been asked to implement “staggered meal times or to provide takeaway facilities”, said a department spokesman. Despite repeated calls by refugee support groups for the most vulnerable residents to be moved out of direct-provision centres, the department did not commit to relocating people for the duration of the pandemic.Cocooning measures

The announcement comes two days after residents in a direct-provision centre in the west were informed a person in their building had tested positive for the virus.

Johnson faces pressure to order Covid-19 lockdownUK Prime Minister Boris Johnson is under mounting pressure to order a widespread lockdown after thousands of people ignored calls for 'social distancing' to slow the coronavirus pandemic. Ireland will be the same if the gov't doesn't start punishing people who refuse to comply with the HSE guidelines. In Jordan, if you leave you home, you get an automatic year in prison. In Italy, if you've the virus and leave your home, you will be charged with murder. Italy’s response has been better managed than Britain because idiot BorisJohnson saw coronavirus as a chance to kill the poor, the elderly and the vulnerable. The country needs to be locked down the quicker it’s done the quicker it’s over China did it and are slowly but surely coming out the other side
