Applications are open to people wishing to join the Irish Defence Forces as General Service Recruits.

Applicants must be 18 years of age and under 39 years of age on the date deemed as the closing date for applications, as reported by Dublin Live. While no formal education qualifications are required to join the Defence Forces as a recruit, the ideal candidates must have the ability to work in a disciplined environment, be suited to working in high-pressure and physically demanding conditions, and be willing to serve abroad for extended periods of time.Successful candidates will undergo training for 12 weeks followed by 3 Star training and at a later stage, Trained Soldier Specialist Training courses.
