Applications are open to people wishing to join the Irish Defence Forces as General Service Recruits.
Applicants must be 18 years of age and under 39 years of age on the date deemed as the closing date for applications, as reported by Dublin Live. While no formal education qualifications are required to join the Defence Forces as a recruit, the ideal candidates must have the ability to work in a disciplined environment, be suited to working in high-pressure and physically demanding conditions, and be willing to serve abroad for extended periods of time.Successful candidates will undergo training for 12 weeks followed by 3 Star training and at a later stage, Trained Soldier Specialist Training courses.
The official advertisement for the role on the Defence Forces website signposts a career there as "rewarding yet challenging" which encompasses a "sense of duty". Where possible, the Forces say, applicants will be made to conduct fitness testing and an interview at a location closest to their home.Join the Irish Mirror’s breaking news service on WhatsApp. Click this link to receive breaking news and the latest headlines direct to your phone.
