Budget will ‘put money back in pockets’, but will not be panacea for all cost-of-living problems

While budgetary measures will “put money back in the pockets of people”, Minister Donohoe said he would not drain the country’s funds surplus that has been built up due to the government “collecting more money in taxes than we are currently spending”.

“This is why we want to ensure that we have the ability to continue to respond back throughout 2023, if things get more challenging or if we have to deal with new risks,” he added. He continued, “I should say that new scheme has only just been introduced in the last few weeks so I wouldn’t expect that it will be expanded in January or February , but certainly through the course of next year.

Dungeon_Rooney They would not ,and even if they were , it would be worth that risk to prevent hard working Irish people from being at the mercy of obscene oil companies. It would also show that the self serving pricks who are elected to represent the people are doing SOMETHING.

Say the guy from the government that got us into the mess in the first place

The worst risk to the nations residents are Politicians all levels due to the 'Unauthorised illegal removal of Election Boxes Exiting Polling Stations'. Solution = Preventing the above from occuring in future Elections.

r u taking the piss.. did gov not destroy the economy with lockdowns needless pcr tests lies bullying coecion discrimination

I have no doubt anything these ghouls will say holds any sway. The minute Mary-Lou gets to her feet they'll crumble like a wet paper bag.

How would it

Risk to them getting another pay increase

In other words anything that can reduce corporate profits and actually help people is a “risk” to FineGael fiannafailparty greenparty_ie staying in government after next election. Also a risk to labour getting into government as well. PoliticalPartiesforProfitBeforePeople

Donohoe is full of it

Absolutely total bullshit energy caps are happening all over Europe stopping price gouging by big companies who are only interested in maximise profits

You and your pals at government are a big risk to the whole country

People on their bollix poses a risk to the economy ,

Absolute bollllllllocks

How come so many countries in the EU can do.... its the feckin Bank bail out all over again here.... these greedy corrupt bastards just stand there as barefaced as f**k while laughing at us sideways.... 🤬🤬

Would pose a risk to the profits of the energy companies

You mean a risk to upsetting the rich

No effective energy strategy is a risk to the economy. I’ll start the slow hand clap 👏🏻 Energy security hasn’t been addressed EVER nor was water and the answer was to privatise that! No Govt investment during the Tiger or otherwise so here we are lads paying for it 🙄

What a liar that man is, the only risk is not having one

Would pose a risk to profits and vat receipts

Explain how why your European colleagues can do it?

But conflating the danger of a virus, isn't?!

Who are ye trying to cod, the only risk posed is to the bonuses of executives, give it over. Can't pay, won't pay. Civil disobedience is civil duty.

Use Maria Byrnes Tea fund to balance the books then

By 'risk' to economy, he means the corporate masters will not allow it. More importantly, he means his WEF master Klaus Schwab will not allow it. The reset must occur and deliberately bringing everyone to their knees is key to this. Only then will people accept their 'solution'.

Interfering, not interfering, is there anything these fools are not able to f*ck up? What qualification or aptitude for governing, beyond getting a load of elderly, local people to write a ballot paper in their favour every five years, do any of these fools have?

Can we all finally join the dots, as to what is happening here?

So if Spain, France and potentially cap prices, why exactly can't Ireland do the same?

Economy? As is they have a say.

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂pull the other one it plays jingle bells 🔔

Of course it would Pascal. Get the fuck out of our country’s leadership. You are unwanted, unelected & you need to go. Asap. WeWantAnElection

😂

Energy is a human right not a market lever. This is ridiculous. I’m not socialist but energy and water should be free.

Ye can't just blurt out nonsensical statements and expect to swallow it ye dolt.

Of course he did.

Ah get to fuck

Does he really mean FG would pose a risk to the economy if left in charge for much longer

Little rich boy Paschal lives in a bubble and is out of touch with with how real people live

Good man Paschal you tell em! Daw da daw da daw daw daw da daw da

AineNicOisin Jokers.

Such utter bullsh it .

Struggling families who can’t pay their bills are definitely gonna bring down the economy. Priority themselves

Biggest risk to the economy is the rise of price of utilities which will lead to the closure of all small and medium businesses which will allow the big corporations to take over completely

The reason this mess will be felt more acutely here is because of Fine Gael's decade long failure to tackle housing, and childcare costs.
