Drivers face the prospect of failing their NCT test in the coming months if their car cannot automatically call the emergency services in the event of a crash.

All cars manufactured since March 2018 are required to be fitted with an SOS system, Ecall,

that automatically makes a free emergency call if the vehicle is involved in a serious road accident.
