The Dublin star was sent off in the dying seconds of injury time in the Division 1 final defeat by Derry after a clash with Eunan Mulholland.

BRIAN Fenton says frustration at being caught with what he says was a closed fist tackle played a part in his red card in the League final defeat by Derry.

Dublin were chasing the game when Eunan Mulholland tackled Fenton and caught him in the midriff area. “I think there was definitely a bit of play acting in many ways but it was my own fault even to get involved in it really. I suppose there are big learnings in it in that way.” “Look, in retrospect, okay there will be an asterisk against the name but I don’t think I will be too ashamed of it down the line.

Fenton reckons that with the game in the dying moments of extra-time that fatigue also played a part in his reaction.
