RTÉ’s Bláthnaid Treacy has conquered the airwaves, now she’s navigating the challenges of career and looking after her mental health - here, she talks about how she keeps mentally well

Bray native Bláthnaid Treacy first appeared on our screens at just three months old, starring in the hit RTÉ soap Glenroe.

Here, we chat to the broadcaster about the importance of looking after your mental health ahead of Pieta's annual fundraiser, Darkness Into Light. The broadcaster revealed to RSVP that participating in RTÉ's Ultimate Hell Week was completely out of her comfort zone. "It was so different to anything I had done before. It was reality TV and I was basically doing army stuff with these giant athletes.

Bláthnaid says there were things she was burying, but because she was so worn down by that week, she couldn’t hide from them any longer. "My husband and I sat down and decided to work on our own issues together. Nowadays, Bláthnaid takes care of her mental health by limiting her screen time and spending time in nature. "If we think of all the time we spend scrolling on our phones, that’s having a massive negative effect on our minds. Instead, go for a walk, do a meditation, take a look inwards.
