ATU: ‘Building on strong tertiary engagement’

ATU offers more than 600 undergraduate courses and more than 100 postgraduate courses including craft and consortia apprenticeships, upskilling courses and tertiary programmes with education and training boards .

“Our CAO performance was good in 2023 and retention improvement measures have seen an increase in ATU student numbers in the current academic year,” she said. “We are also eagerly awaiting the outcome from last year’s expression of interest call for veterinary medicine and pharmacy – the ability to offer these two programmes would truly change the higher education landscape in the northern and western region.”The Letterkenny campus includes more than 18,000sq m of educational and support accommodation with specialised teaching and research facilities. It also houses a library, dining areas, meeting rooms and state-of-the-art sporting facilities.

It houses engineering and science labs, as well as an Apple Mac computer lab and a new creative hub for arts, design and architecture. The campus is home to more than 200 students, studying five different degree courses in workshop facilities with advanced machinery and computer technology.

New Cybersecurity Scholarship at Munster Technological UniversityApplications have opened for a new cybersecurity scholarship at Munster Technological University (MTU). Successful applicants will be invited to join a 10-month programme where they will receive a tax-free scholarship of €38,000. When finished they will graduate with a postgraduate qualification in cybersecurity innovation from MTU. The course is designed to provide participants with the necessary skills to evaluate, select and validate ideas for new cybersecurity products and services which will contribute to the creation of new start-ups and innovations. Up to 15 people are expected to graduate each year from the programme and participants do not need to have a cybersecurity or IT background to apply. The €7m investment in the Cyber Innovate programme at MTU is part of a wider €30m in funding from Enterprise Ireland in cluster development.
