Gardaí have issued an appeal for information in relation to the disappearance of Philip Cairns, who went missing 35 years ago today

The 13-year-old went missing on 23 October 1986 while making his way back to Coláiste Éanna in Rathfarnham in Dublin, where he was a first-year student.

He was described as being 5'2" in height, with short black hair. When last seen he was wearing his school uniform, a grey jacket with black shoulder corners, grey school trousers, a grey shirt and a school pullover. Given changing circumstances and the passage of time, gardaí said people may now be in a position to assist them.
