The race, initially appearing to favor the Cadillac teams who dominated much of the afternoon, took an unexpected turn as Heinrich, in his second race with JDC Motorsports, expertly maneuvered his way past Earl Bamber in the No. 31 Action Express Racing Cadillac V-Series R. The decisive pass occurred in turn five on the final lap, allowing Heinrich to establish a 0.758-second lead and claim the checkered flag. This triumph is particularly noteworthy given Heinrich’s recent transition from the Porsche Penske No. 7 team, where he achieved success in the 24 Hours of Daytona and 12 Hours of Sebring, to JDC Motorsports just prior to the Long Beach sprint race.
Sharing the victory with teammate Tijmen van der Helm, this marks Helm’s first overall win in IMSA competition, building upon his previous best finish at the 2024 Battle of the Bricks. The win signifies a significant milestone for JDC Motorsports, representing their inaugural GTP class victory and solidifying their position as a competitive force within the championship. The race for the podium positions in GTD Pro was closely contested, with Philip Eng and Marco Wittman securing third place for BMW M Team WRT. Close behind were the Acura Meyer Shank Racing entries, with the No. 60 car piloted by Tom Blomqvist and Colin Braun, and the No. 93 driven by Renger van der Zande and Nick Yelloy, rounding out the top five.
