Toby Triebel is leaving Vontobel. The German is considered a fintech expert and is responsible for the launch of the digital investment app «Volt» along with his team. He now wants to continue his career outside of Vontobel, a bank spokesperson confirmed the news initially reported by «Inside Paradeplatz» on Wednesday.
Triebel, who joined Vontobel in October 2020, informed the bank in the spring of his decision to step down before the end of the year to return to his young family, who lives in London, a spokesman told «AWP».Informing Vontobel when he did, allowed the bank to conduct a smooth succession. Francois Ruef will take over as head of digital investing on December 1.
With its Volt digital offering, Vontobel primarily wants to address affluent clients with investable assets of up to one million Swiss francs. Initial customer reactions to the app launched in May 2022, showed that the bank was on the right track. However, Affluent customers tend to adopt a wait-and-see approach to new investments in the current market environment, the spokesperson is quoted as saying. In addition, investments in digital channels would above all mean a long-term key investment in the future.
