TORONTO -- Face masks, originally seen as unnecessary outside hospitals and now facing global shortages, could be re-emerging as a new normal for daily life during the coronavirus pandemic.
“CDC does not recommend that people who are well wear a facemask to protect themselves from respiratory illnesses, including COVID-19,” reads the center’s FAQ page for the virus. “It’s going to be nearly impossible to maintain a distance of six feet at all times,” said Sharkawy. “If you’re going to the grocery store to pick up your groceries for the week, you should be wearing a mask.”“You’re in the same environment as everybody else . You’re breathing the same air. If you go outside your front door, you don’t need a mask,” he said. “But if you’re out in public and anywhere near exposure with other people not within your nuclear household, you should ideally wear a mask.

Also, since it's airborne and I need to do groceries for my folks that are going to be in isolation for pretty much months, when I go grocery shopping, I stay in there for an hour. I'll protect myself and wish the same for everyone else. 1 hour of exposure to airborne particles😬
why wouldn't we when going in the grocery ... Its clearly contagious through the air, the experts of it say it. And not everyone has symptoms and knows they have it, so they might be the person 2 meters away talking to you.

Any time you are out and going to be within 2 m of people. Ie all the time. Wear eye protection. Wash your hands before you take the mask off. Wear gloves. Be safe.
The proper masks to wear are n95 masks. Normal surgical masks don't work to protect against this virus. Plus you also need to wear Goggles to cover your eyes as the virus could go through your eyes if you don't wear goggles. Also wash your hands alot. Don't touch your face.
If you've got masks, wear it at all times while out of the house. Remember only N95 masks work. Normal surgical masks will not protect against Covid19.

This is why I think it's time to hear from all these professionals they all say their getting their info from. I think we as Canadians have the right to see who these people are. The same who said cutting all travel off would not help anything. Yet it's why its here in Canada
Please don’t. I’m begging ppl as a nurse myself to save masks for us medical professionals. If we are sick we can’t help you or your family. Being told to ration one mask for an entire shift is dangerous. Please leave the PPE for us. I don’t wear a mask outside of hospital.

Wear a mask whenever you go out! Specifically in confined areas such as grocery stores, LCBO, ...Wear it properly so that it covers your nose and mouth, and don’t touch your mask. Keep in mind that you can’t reuse your mask either. Dispose responsibility, masks are not recyclable
I think that anyone going into the public to pick up essential should not only wear a mask of some sort ( bought or homemade) but also wear gloves as the virus can live on surfaces as well. These can be discarded or washed for additional use. Better safe than sorry.

The masks worn by the family in this photo are n-95 masks. They should not be worn by the public but by medical professionals. They are the only masks that nurses can use during their work. The public should not even have access to them. They are taking recourses from hospitals

Wearing face masks in public all the time when you are not sick is ridiculous. If the objective is to prevent getting a virus, the science does not support this as the best practice. Is it really that hard to wash your hands often? Is it hard to stay home when you are sick?
I mean, if you have one, why not? It certainly doesnt hurt. It isnt like anyone who is supposed to be home is spending a lot of time out anyway. Just remember to keep those hands clean also!!
