One of the country’s largest retailers, Walmart Canada, will no longer offer its price-matching program come October.

In a statement, the company said they will be discontinuing their ad match program due to a decrease in usage and delays at checkout.

“Over time, we have seen minimal usage of our Ad Match program, while at the same time the program has been causing delays at the checkout. As a result, we are discontinuing our Ad Match program in all stores and on Walmart.ca effective Oct. 15,” theA spokesperson confirmed to CTVNews.ca over the phone that the change is not COVID-related and Walmart Canada will be emphasizing their savings pricing program known as “rollbacks.

According to their website, stores across Canada will continue to accept coupons but price-matching will only be accepted up until Oct. 15. The only price-match that will continue to be accepted at the retailer is for items from their online store, however some limitations may apply.

Fuckn bullshit... Guess I will buy all my fuckn stuff where it is on sale.. Not my fuckn loss

WalmartCanada save money , live better my ass. How can we save if you don't price match anymore. I will certainly save by not going to Walmart. You only do that to do more $$$. I'm gonna do my grocery where they care about my money EpicerieMaxi merci

No more shopping at Walmart ever and I'll spread the word to everyone who listens bye bye Walmart may you go down with cov

What a terrible decision WalmartCanada. Lower income shoppers will be greatly impacted by this. Unintended consequences like climate change as shoppers travel from store to store again.

Cue the collusion.

boycottWalmart

Adios WalMart. It’s been nice knowin’ ya, but I think I’m gonna be shopping at Superstore from now on. Thanks eh!

So the say low usage, and it delays at checkouts, lol you can’t have it both ways, if it’s not being used then there would not be delays, but if it is being use yes it can cause delays, which is it Walmart, sounds like bullshit to me

they put everybody else out of business

With price matching apps, it barely takes any time at all. Maybe if they had some more cashiers working instead of self checkout. This is going to hurt them vs help.

Then WalmartCanada will not be my one-stop shop knowing the prices are not guaranteed to be the lowest. I will shop around more before setting foot in WM altogether.

I try to avoid Walmart but it’s so dam good. Lol

Who sells lower than Walmart?

Put more cashiers on!!!! Anytime you go there 2-3 cashiers are open but all the self serve are open🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️. I refuse to use self serve, I don’t work for Walmart!!!!!!

Zellers should come back send wall mart back to trump lol

Prayers have been answered!!! ❤❤❤

I really believe we should be buying local more. It's not sustainable that we buy most of our goods from such great distances.

Gonna be a lot shopping elsewhere as the big box store gets greedy

Are you kidding me WalmartCanada. haveaheart thisiswhathappensinamonopoly bargainshop

They are trying to blackmail their food vendors into lowering their costs so that Walmart has a larger profit margin.

Prices will sky rocket. Move over Amazon!

Have they killed all competitors?

This will impact Walmart's employees more than customers. Thousands of associate benefit from the program as an incentive.

I figure with the 90% temporary foreign workers they employ their prices will be rock bottom all the time. Right?

That doesn’t sound right, not enough people use the service but it causes to much delay at the checkout Which one is it Walmart, be transparent and tell us the truth.

Other stores will do the same soon.

This isn’t about “lack of usage”. Don’t lie Walmart. This is about not wanting to lose money. You’re hurting the most vulnerable again.

They are going to lose more money than they'll save by driving poor customers away to stores that will price match

And the rich get richer

Cause they are literally the only store left in Canada! No Kmart no Zellers. It’s Walmart or Giant Tiger that’s it!!

Thank god!

Good ... hate waiting for someone to go through 10 flyers ... want that price go to that store

Greedy

Lol ... The richest family in the USA .Worth over 200 BILLION yet that's not enough . Paying starvation wages while profits soar .... Terrible !

did CTV have an actual Canadian story ? Good job .I know you can hit two this week!

Maybe now you can keep the shelves full

How can you have a decrease in usage but an increase in delays? Just be honest, Walmart. You're not making as much as you could and you've calculated that the money you'll lose from some shoppers going elsewhere is less than what you'll gain from not offering this program.

Remembering the good old days brittlestar zellers

They've had way too much success and the Waltons have only become richer billionaires due to this pandemic. Now they don't need anything from the peasants whatsoever.

Bla bla bla. Delays at check out. The last time I checked walmart are adding more and more self check-outs. The rich get richer

Dumb move.

If not many use it, why discontinue? If not many use it, why are there delays at checkout? Walmart sucks and their online is worse.

Superstore has price matching.

This is terrible. The delays are because customers are looking for the deals while checking out and not prepared. If the customer isn’t ready then the cashier should charge them the full price. I’ve saved thanks to this program. Now what’s the point of shopping there!
