CFL asking government for up to $150M in financial aid - TSN.caThe Canadian Football League is asking the federal government for up to $150 million in financial assistance due to the COVID-19 pandemic, league commissioner Randy Ambrosie told The Canadian Press on Tuesday. I have always been a strong advocate for league's being able to support themselves. It truly is unfortunate, but maybe it is time to see if the NFL would be open to adding a Canadian team in Toronto, Vancouver or Montreal. It would likely be more sustainable. If a league cant support itself than it's time for said league to close. Government shouldn't have to pay for professional sports team. As much as cfl is great because it’s Canadian. I can’t see the taxpayers money paying the league, and salaries of players coaches and staff etc.
