TSB says derailed train began to move on its ownInvestigators say a Canadian Pacific freight train was parked and began to move on its own before it derailed and killed three crew members on the Alberta-British Columbia boundary. .....a 'loss of control'...... Any possibility this might be related to doing TWICE the safe speed? Just askin'................... Now that's fucking brilliant! Loss of control? Who would ever have thought it? Thank God for the TSB. This started with a parked train sitting which means airbrakes were not conditioned (warmed) reducing effectiveness. The'DB' on those units should have held the train in control as it started to move. Look at the 1997 derailment in same location for clues.

LIVE: TSB update on deadly train derailmentLIVE SOON: TSB briefing on deadly CP Rail train derailment near Field, B.C.: Wow 3 train derailments in a month. Just be thankful no oil tankers were involved. Again the need for pipelines is great, there is a disaster coming if oil is continued to be shipped via rail OilsandsAction The cold weather reeks havoc on compressed air systems. Air dryers need to be in tip-top shape and lines need blown down to rid excess moisture. I would guess air line freezing was a major contributor. Was the trained un-manned for 2 hrs between crew change?

Delays of up to 30 minutes on some GO train lines amid extreme coldDelays of up to 30 minutes have been reported along GO Transit’s Lakeshore East line due to an issue involving a switch that has malfunctioned amid the extreme cold. I saw a drunk traveller being fined for the fuel wasted for his misbehaving, ok. Transport companies that expose commuters to health risk like in these conditions for lack of efficiency should be fined too, travel tickets refunded plus damages if any. you would think transit companies in a cold country like Canada would build the proper infrastructure for cold weather. Dugghhh....
