Recent data suggests COVID-19 infections may have peaked or be close to peaking in Toronto, even though the health-care system remains strained, according to Dr. Eileen de Villa, medical officer of health, speaking at a press conference on Thursday morning.
“All of these COVID-19 indicators I’ve just mentioned — our seven-day moving average, test positivity and wastewater surveillance — are high, but the decreases are reasons for cautious optimism,” said de Villa. The city expected to send 53,000 texts today, telling residents about the new opportunities for vaccination.
