Of the 43,412 tickets handed out by the 50 cameras in those months, 4,539 were given out by a camera on Parkside Drive, south of Algonquin Avenue, according to the latest data handed out by the city Tuesday.
The area has frequently been cited by community members as a problem for speeding and was the site of aMore recently, cyclists who use High Park have lashed out at police for conducting speed enforcement on cyclists within the park, saying they should focus instead on vehicular traffic on the surrounding roads where speed is a problem. Toronto Police have said they continue to carry out speed enforcement on the surrounding roads and have capacity to do both.
The city moves the speed cameras around to different locations every few months and they are now in place at a fifth set of Community Safety Zones to help reduce speeding in areas with safety concerns. Fines from the tickets increase with the recorded speed. The latest data released by the city shows that there were 1,656 repeat offenders around the city in June, with one driver receiving 10 tickets for speeding on Stilecroft Drive, west of Sharpecroft Boulevard, in the York Centre area.
There were 890 repeat offenders in July, with one receiving six tickets for speeding on Denison Avenue, south of Grange Avenue in the Spadina Fort York area, and another receiving six tickets for speeding on Stilecroft Drive.
Such a scam when school is not in session.
Some should put some flex seal on it.
We need photo radar back in the worst way.....
But bikes are the problem 🙃
Fine structure hasn’t been updated in nearly 30yrs. Increase fines to levels of other provinces
Don't mind them by the schools, but it should be the only place for them to be located. Between the constant grid lock I don't need someone snapping a ticket the second I get some open road.
Wouldn't want these to be vandalized again
Less government would be great anytime now
This is all a money grab.
Good, put them all over the place. Rake in those $$$ from all these idiots going speeding 80+ kph in a 50 zone risking everyone's life all around. Less annoying speed bumps (why should everyone following the speed limits have to deal with speed bumps?) and more cams I say
'cyclists who use High Park have lashed out at police for conducting speed enforcement on cyclists within the park, saying they should focus instead on vehicular traffic on the surrounding roads' I guess the speed camera enforced it for them. Problem solved.
Where’s all the angry bike pricks at…… lol
Thanks for reminding me to buy a fresh supply of black spray paint.😜
Theft
I just got $300 worth in fines cause of construction doing 41 in a 30. This is a pure $ making scam
Is there an “Employee of the Month” for these things?
Using fines to enforce road safety isn’t going to work when the people who speed the most are folks with fast cars that cost a lot of money.
Clearly these noobs aren’t using Waze
Take your tickets to court ...they will have to drop them , they can't handle that many court cases
I’m surprised nobody has tipped it over yet. Residents of High Park, get on that!
Fantastic!
Speed Camera Draws Lion's Share of Revenue in June & July
I need to see some of the speed cameras in school zones.
Cash grab $$$$ but I’m ok with cameras around schools even tho speed bumps work just as well.
these do nothing but create traffic, and the traffic becomes more dangerous. only safe thing about it is that it removes cops from the area
surprised it hasn't been painted
In the minds of commuting drivers, Parkside south of Bloor is just a continuation of the 400, Black Creek & Keele and any photo-radar along there is a money generator.
There should be a method of intervention when there are multiple hits in the same month. What good is 10 tickets in the mail if that driver/vehicle is most likely to take a life? Roadwatch? A phone call?
One k over of course ffs ..😏😏
Set few up in Mississauga and you would make trillions
Cyclists?
