The celebration of the city’s first Pride parade since the pandemic welcomed more than 160 entries onto the route down Ninth Avenue.
The event was led by the Rainbow Elders and Calgary LGBTQ2S+ pioneer, Lois Szabo who was the founder of one of the very first gay clubs in Calgary in the 1960s and recently honoured with a park named after in the city’s Beltline neighbourhood.“It's unbelievable to see this and it never dawned on me that we could be out here like this. It's so good to be back.
“It's sending a message to the world about the real Calgary and not the cartoon stereotype that we have,” said Gondek. “This a place that loves people and you can see it in the crowd, you can see it on the city council, that’s who we are.” Sunday’s parade was also very special not just for Calgarians but also tourists from across the province and western Canada. Here at

Honestly I think sexuality is a private matter to be celebrated in the bedroom not in the streets.
Monkey Pox 🐒 is about to spike!
When is the next straight, middle-aged, hard-working-even-with-a-bad-foot, mother of 4 parade please Or am I not special enough?!?
So much Covid
Imagine telling a three-year-old “I want them to know that it's okay to be who they are and embrace who they are no matter what, 100 per cent, 365 days a year” Not a heck of a lot of motivation for self-improvement there. Sane people lack the creativity to devise these abuses.
Is Pride not in June anymore?
Can we stop?
Sadly was too busy today, I'll just go to next month's pride parade instead
That's to bad
