Since the beginning of 2017, over 43,000 asylum seekers have arrived in Canada through unofficial entry points. "They are the most offended at Trudeau's status quo, where some are able to jump queues, exploit loopholes and game the system."
As for the numbers of newcomers admitted each year in Canada, Scheer acknowledged it is a controversial topic. Few details were attached to his commitments; Scheer said he would provide more details during the election campaign in the fall.

Crossing a border to seek asylum is not illegal. In fact, the asylum seekers rights are protected. So are these more rights that Andrew Scheer will cancel?

The rise of illegal or irregular crossings have resulted in a rise in the number of people who have lost faith in the fairness of the system. Coupled with his plan to speed up the lagging processing times and clean up the backlog of requests, seems like a solid approach.
