Scheer says it would take Conservatives five years to balance budget

He accused the Liberal government of embarking on a "deficit spree" and spending $79.5 billion of previously unbudgeted funds since 2017, adding balancing the budget in the short-term is "impossible."

He made the remarks in a speech to members of the Canadian Club at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver, where he also said he was pleased with a court ruling today that blocked British Columbia from restricting oil shipments into the province. But while he called it a "helpful" ruling, Scheer added that a climate of uncertainty remains for investors in the resource sector and called on the Liberal government to put the brakes on a bill to enact new environmental assessment legislation and fast-track any judicial reviews to the Supreme Court of Canada.

The Canadian Taxpayers Federation accused Scheer of breaking his word on his previous budget promise, saying in a statement that he signed a pledge in April 2017 with the federation's youth organization promising to balance the budget within two years if he were elected.

Perhaps 5 years after his passing. No gov. (or Party) can make promises of this sort. However, one way of decreasing some of the debt: pay more attention to Deputies, Ministers & the Primne Ministers EXPENSE ACCOUNTS. They need to clean up their acts - now!

Conservatives are a threat to democracy and our personal freedoms. Their promises are empty. They will ignore climate change in favor of big money fossil fuel. They will prolife women into shackles and death. The will cut essential services in favor of the wealthy and elite.

If he can do that without killing us with cuts, he will PM forever, but live large JT has done so much damage, I’ll vote for Sheer if he is just able to stop the bleeding. Canada is so broke.

There is no need to balance the budget. Just slap it on the Liberal credit card and get the Iphone-video game-Netflix generation to pay the interest.
