“Moicano” advised people who love their country to read “Economic Policy: Thoughts For Today And Tomorrow” by Mises which was republished in Portuguese as “Six Lessons, Economic Policy.” The book, which is one of Mises’ most popular, discusses capitalism, socialism, inflation, etc. in a series of six lectures he delivered in Argentina. Carneiro explained his shoutout on“Because I’m very concerned. A lot of people talk to me about money,” he said.
Mises and his future Nobel laureate disciple, Friedrich Hayek, strongly supported free markets and minimal government interference. While both are widely denounced elsewhere, they gained immense popularity in Brazil during former conservative president Jair Bolsonaro’s regime. Despite current socialist president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s crackdown on free speech, “Moicano” continues to be a mouthpiece of the “Menos Marx, Mais Mises” movement.
“I know some people are struggling and they are on a bad place but the government wants that, they want people in bad places so that they can make that money, can keep the cycle of poverty. And if you start to learn and understand about economics, then about money, you don’t want to be rely on government, rely on welfare, because in the long term this is going to destroy not only the rich but the middle class and the poor too,” said the Brazilian.
