It's official: Everyone taking public transport in Quebec will have to wear a mask as of July 13

MONTREAL -- Wearing a mask while taking public transit will be mandatory as of July 13 in Quebec, Premier Francois Legault announced on Tuesday.

Until now, the wearing of masks has been strongly recommended by public transport authorities in Quebec, but not mandatory. “I’ve said it often, and it has been shown, since the beginning of the crisis, Quebecers have been extraordinary,” Legault said. “It is here, in Quebec, that people were the most careful; it is here that they most respected the guidelines when we look at the 60 states and provinces in North America, it is here that people followed the guidelines the best.”

Legault added that for the time being, the wearing of a mask isn't mandatory in other public spaces like businesses, but he didn't rule out the possibility.

Deaths are now down 90% and they want to wear masks. What an idiot. Masks don’t work and destroy your immune system. Within 6 seconds wearing a mask oxygen levels go to a dangerous level. Wear a mask if you want to get sick.

Why the 2 week wait?

Good policy.

Well done! Ontario better bet on board before we are the next epicentre.
