BAIE-COMEAU, QUE. – A slow start in the first period cost the Cape Breton Eagles in Game 1 of the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League semifinal series with the Baie-Comeau Drakkar on Thursday.

Baie-Comeau’s Charles-Édward Gravel stopped all 26 shots he faced for his first career QMJHL playoff shutout. Cape Breton’s Nicolas Ruccia turned aside 38 of 42 shots. Cape Breton Eagles ready for challenge that awaits in top-ranked Baie-Comeau Drakkar in QMJHL semifinal “We know how they play, and we know how we have to play, at the end today we didn’t execute,” said Robitaille. “We had way too many turnovers, the most turnovers we did all year and it wasn’t because they forced those turnovers.”Eagles forward Cam Squires acknowledged the Drakkar as a good team. He said it’s going to be a long series and that his club is only going to build off the adversity it faces.
