Centre 200 will be packed to the roof with fans on Friday night to watch the Cape Breton Eagles open the second round of the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League playoffs against the Chicoutimi Saguenéens.
Rivals again: Cape Breton Eagles have history of success and heartbreak against Chicoutimi Saguenéens Like Squires, defenceman Conor Shortall has been with the team for three seasons. He arrived in 2021-22 — a season where the Eagles finished dead-last in the QMJHL and saw one of its lowest average attendances in franchise history.
Since then, more than 3,000 fans have come to five different regular season games, boosting numbers across the board. Crowds of above 4,000 spectators cheered on the Eagles in their first two playoff games against Rimouski last round.
